As the name suggests, this way of holding the yarn and needles originated in the north of Britain. Some knitters tuck the end of the right-hand needle under their arm when using this method.
Hold the needle with the stitches on in your elft hand. Wrap the yarn around the little finger of your right hand and then come up between your index and second fingers.
Hold the other needle into your right hand, placing your hand on top of the needle, in the same way as you would hold a knife. The right-hand index finger is going to control the tension of the yarn, so it is important to keep the yarn around this finger slightly taut.
