Left-Hand Cast-On
You may find this the easiest method if you are left-handed. It is a similar technique to the Continental cast on so you need to calculate how much yarn you will use; it is best to allow 2cm (3/4”) per stitch. Measure out the correct amount of yarn then make a slip knot.
- Hold the needle with the slip know on in your left hand. Wrap the measured end of the yarn around your right thumb from back to front. Wrap the tail end over your right index finger and secure both ends between you palm and fingers.
- Put the tip of the needle up into the loop on your thumb.
- Insert the tip of the needle downwards into the loop around your index finger and draw it through the loop on your thumb. Pull the stitch tight. Continue until you have cast on the required number of stitches.
